Hunt Valley Baptist Church was started on April 25th, 2004.
A Test of Faith:

When God called Pastor Bottrell to plant a church in Hunt Valley, Maryland, there were several things that he did not know. One of these unknowns was the measure of faith that God would require. To start a brand new church in one of the highest rent districts in Maryland is an overwhelming obstacle. However, where God leads, He always provides, and Hunt Valley Baptist Church is no exception.

Week of Meetings:

A week of meetings was held April 18-23, 2004 to launch HVBC. Many churches came out to support the
meetings providing special music, refreshments, and most of all, encouragement. One night, sixteen different pastors were present. These meetings brought several local families out who have continued to attend since that time. Mt Zion Baptist Church from Brogue, Pennsylvania, paid to rent Oregon Ridge Park for the week of meetings, and also paid our first month’s rent on the church building.

The Renovation:

What a miracle it was to find a building, but once that prayer was answered, we had to renovate the property. Knowing that we never get a second chance to make a first impression, our goal was to get the property remodeled to look sharp for the first Sunday. On April 6, we had no money and only 19 days to get the job done. It was amazing to watch God put it all together. Maranatha Baptist in Lyons, New York located, purchased, & shipped brand new carpet. Independent Baptist in Clinton, Maryland supplied the funds to have it installed. The pulpit, piano, chairs, organ, and water fountain, etc. were all donated. Over and over, God provided not only the finance needed, but also the men and women to get the jobs done. Praise Him!

Our First Sunday:

April 25, 2004 (our first Sunday) was tremendous. There were 75 people in attendance with 15 different local families. After that time, the attendance continued to grow! Hallelujah! A New Church was Born!

One Year Later:

The Word has been preached, and souls have been saved! To God Be The Glory! GREAT Things He Hath Done! Amen!

Three Years Later:

The Word still continues to reach out to the people in the community and souls are being added to God’s kingdom.  We are currently averaging over 100 people in attendance with visitors on a regular basis.  We continue to praise God for His goodness and look forward to what He has in store for us as we seek His will concerning a building and our future!
