Anti-Discrimination Policy
Hunt Valley Baptist Church (“the Church”) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and Christ-honoring environment for all individuals who participate in our ministries, programs, services, or events. Because every person is created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), the Church seeks to treat all individuals with dignity, compassion, and Christian love.
In accordance with this commitment, the Church prohibits unlawful discrimination or harassment against any individual based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability, or marital status in the administration of our programs, benevolence, educational ministries, and public-facing services. The Church complies with all applicable federal and state laws governing nonprofit religious organizations in these matters.
As a religious institution, the Church retains all rights afforded under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, relevant state law, and federal statutes—including but not limited to Title VII, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), and Internal Revenue Service guidelines—which recognize the Church’s authority to make employment, membership, leadership, volunteer, and facility-use decisions in accordance with its sincerely held religious beliefs, doctrinal statement, and moral teachings as articulated in Scripture. These beliefs include the Church’s positions on matters of faith, conduct, and ecclesiastical authority.
Any individual who believes they have experienced behavior inconsistent with this policy is encouraged to report their concern to church leadership. Reports will be handled promptly, respectfully, and in a manner consistent with biblical principles and the Church’s governing documents.
